‘Parisu’ – Movie Review

Introduction

Parisu is a women-centric drama that blends ambition, parenting, patriotism, agriculture, education, and social responsibility into a family-friendly narrative. With new faces in key roles, the film aims to present “the greatest gift a child can give parents” – fulfilling their dreams.

📘 Storyline

Janvi, an engineering student, excels in academics and sports. Inspired by her ex-army father, she dreams of joining the Indian Army. Along with her shooting training, she also practices farming, drives a tractor, engages in social work, and leads college students in village clean-up activities.

While some boys in college keep chasing her with flowers and gifts, Janvi stays focused on her goals. She becomes a shooting champion and wins first place at the Asian-level competition in Cairo, Egypt.

During a family event, she meets Rajesh, a photographer who develops feelings for her. Janvi, however, prioritises her ambition first. Things take a turn when she witnesses a hit-and-run accident and helps the police trace the culprits. In retaliation, a gang involved in organ trafficking kidnaps her. How she fights them and whether she fulfils her father’s Army dream forms the rest of this 130-minute film.

🎭 Performance Highlights

  • Janvika as Janvi
A strong performance in multiple shades — a student, farmer, shooting champion, and Army aspirant. Her stunt sequences, performed without a body double, are impressive.
  • Aadukalam Naren
Shines as a loving and supportive father, portraying warmth and conviction.
  • Kiran Pradeep & Jai Bala
Deliver natural, subtle performances without overacting.
  • Sudhakar as the Villain
Holds attention as the businessman behind the organ-trade mafia.
  • Comedy Track – Manobala, Chinnaponnu & Sendrayan
Some portions work, but several jokes lean towards body-shaming and fall flat.

🎬 Technical Brilliance

  • Cinematography – Shankar Selvaraj
Clear visuals with some aesthetically pleasing frames.
  • Music – Rajeesh | Lyrics – Rajendra Chozhan
“Aattangal Aadi Paarpomae”, “Konjik Konjip Pesalama?”, and “Poradalama?” are melodious and meaningful.
Background score by Hamera is subtle yet effective.
  • Editing – C.S. Premkumar & Ram Gopi
Smooth in most parts, though a few segments could be sharper.
  • Action – Kotti & Elango
Action scenes involving the heroine feel realistic and well-choreographed.

🎥 Direction & Production

Director Kala Alluri deserves appreciation for making a film that uplifts women without indecent dialogues, vulgarity, or unnecessary violence. The core message — Army is a culture, not just a job — is conveyed meaningfully. Motivational dialogues, especially Janvi’s speech referencing Netaji and Rani Lakshmibai, are impactful for young women.

Plus

  • Inspiring and positive message for women
  • Father–daughter emotional bond
  • Unique mix of shooting sport + farming + social responsibility
  • Clean, family-friendly filmmaking
  • Strong central female character

Minus

  • Comedy track is inconsistent and occasionally problematic
  • Some predictable and melodramatic portions in the screenplay
  • Villain track could have had more depth
  • Slight pacing dips in the second half

🎯 Final Thoughts

Parisu is a clean, intention-driven family drama that particularly motivates young women to stay focused on their goals. Despite some flaws, it succeeds in delivering positivity, courage, and hope. A safe family watch with a good message.
