Introduction

Storyline
Sonia Agarwal plays a widowed agricultural labourer living alone outside her village, carrying a painful past. His only comfort comes from the affection of his schoolmate Varshita.
As Dilips struggles mentally due to social oppression, a shocking truth emerges—that Sonia Agarwal is his mother. Why does she live away from her son? Can Dilips overcome the psychological scars caused by caste inequality? Paruthi unfolds by answering these emotionally driven questions.

Writer-director A. Guru deserves appreciation for choosing a socially relevant theme and attempting to portray caste discrimination without dilution. His intent to emotionally explore a mother–son relationship alongside social injustice is evident. However, the execution falls short, as the narrative struggles to communicate its ideas effectively on screen.
Production values are modest yet appropriate for the film’s grounded setting.
