🧩 Plot Summary
Vemal plays a corrupt police inspector who supports criminals, takes bribes, and even cheats his own station by not paying rent. His friend, local rowdy Jana, challenges him to kill a minister’s son. Coincidentally, Vemal’s old college friend Poojitha Ponnada, now an Assistant Commissioner of Police, is tasked with the security of the same minister’s son — under Vemal’s leadership. Despite heavy security, Jana manages to kill the minister’s son. Why did he do it? That forms the core of the story.
🎭 Performances
- Vemal delivers a performance that seems driven more by the need to clear dues than passion.
- Jana, the surprise package, shows off dance and action skills confidently.
- Poojitha Ponnada, Harshitha Bandlamuri, and Joohi are cast as heroines with token presence — a song and a few scenes each, nothing more, but performed well.
- Female characters meant for comic relief end up being irritating rather than funny.
- Supporting cast includes Ravi Mariya, RV Udhayakumar, Singampuli, Lollu Sabha Swaminathan, and others, with roles that fail to leave a mark.
🎵 Technical Aspects
- Vidyasagar’s music, once celebrated, feels dated and uninspired here.
- Cinematography (Selva R) and Editing (Anand Linga Kumar) contribute to a film that looks and feels old-fashioned.
🎬 Direction & Writing
Director Ezhil, known for his earlier hits, disappoints with a film that lacks direction, logic, and genuine comedy. The screenplay meanders, with abrupt twists and scenes stitched together without flow. It’s branded a comedy, but there’s barely anything to laugh at.
❌ Verdict
“Logic shouldn’t be expected in comedy films,” they say — but what if even the comedy is missing? Desingu Raja 2 fails to recreate the charm of its predecessor and ends up being an outdated and forgettable watch.
