Tamil Nadu’s sports scene just hit the fast lane. The Honorable Deputy Chief Minister and Sports Minister, Thiru Udhayanidhi Stalin, celebrated the achievements of 11-year-old karting sensation Rivaan Dev Preetham from Chennai, marking a milestone for motorsport in the state.
Rivaan, a two-time Indian National Karting Champion and the first Indian to win at the FIA Motorsport Games in Valencia this October, was awarded a ₹5 lakh cheque by the Tamil Nadu Champions Foundation under SDAT. The recognition highlights the government’s commitment to nurturing young athletes in diverse sports.
This event also marked a historic moment—Rivaan became the first motorsport athlete to receive government financial backing. Officially inducted into the Tamil Nadu Champions Foundation, he’s now set to represent India in the Champions of the Future series across Europe and the Middle East.
With leaders like Udhayanidhi Stalin championing underrepresented sports, Tamil Nadu’s athletes are racing toward global recognition.
