Madras Carnival: SSFI Students Celebrate Chennai’s Heritage & Support Wayanad Flood Relief

The Sun Smart Foundation International School (SSFI) recently hosted the Madras Carnival as part of the Madras Week celebrations, under the Creativity, Art, and Service (CAS) program. The event aimed to celebrate the rich culture and heritage of Chennai while contributing to a meaningful cause, with proceeds supporting the Wayanad flood relief efforts.

The carnival, which attracted over 200 attendees from the school and local community, provided a vibrant platform for students to showcase their talents and foster a deeper connection with Chennai’s cultural heritage. The event featured a variety of activities, including traditional arts, cultural workshops, and historical exhibits.

Special Highlights:

  • Madras Sensational Song Teaser: The teaser for the “Madras Sensational” song, created by SSFI students, was released, with the full song scheduled for release on September 15, 2024.
  • Cultural Workshops: Traditional Kurumba art and dye-making sessions were conducted.
  • Madras Photo Gallery Walk: SSFI learners showcased photographs of their favorite Chennai spots.
  • Games and Food: Attendees enjoyed traditional games and food inspired by Madras.
  • Historical Gallery Walk: Artefacts and stories tracing Chennai’s history were on display.
  • Skit on Wayanad Landslides: Students performed a skit highlighting the impacts of climate change and environmental awareness.
