Vellimalai Review

Supergood Subramani, Veera Subash, Anju Krishna, Girija, Vijayakumar, Charles, Kaviraj, and Pandian are cast in the prominent roles. Maniperumal cranked the camera. “N R Raghunanthan” composed the music. Rajagopal Elangovan produced the film.

Subramani’s family had been involved in practicing medicine and curing diseases in the village using the medications made out of roots and leaves available in Vellimalai. When a person dies due to the wrong treatment by Subramani’s brother, the villagers stop approaching his family for treatment. After years, when a person gets cured of a disease by the treatment given by Subramani, the people start getting medicines from him. Soon, some medicines went out of stock, and Subramani had to search for the roots or leaves, which he was unaware of. Many people died due to disease, and he couldn’t stop the deaths as he didn’t have the medicine. Was he able to get the ingredients to make the medicine? The rest of the film deals with it.

Star Performance

Subramani’s performance is impressive. His emotional breakdown sequences impress the audience. The rest of the cast did what was required of them.

Eagle Eye 👁

The director has taken a simple script and inserted some emotional elements. The performances are good, yet if some more known faces in the film would’ve improved the reach. The songs are neat, and the BGM is good. The village visuals are incredible, and seeing nature in its color is exciting. Without any commercial formula, the director tried his best to bring in spirituality, the importance of traditional medicine, and humanity. Though there are a few mistakes here and there, the attempt is genuine.
